Pre-planning
One of the few kind things you can do for your family before anything happens.
Pre-planning and pre-paying a funeral is a gift to the people who will otherwise have to guess. It takes one conversation, it commits you to nothing on the day you ask about it, and it can be changed afterwards.
Ask Kevin about pre-planning · (203) 256-8988Because the alternative is a family deciding at two in the morning.
Nobody has to guess
The decisions that are hardest to make in the first two days are the ones where a family is not sure what their mother would have wanted. Written down in advance, they stop being decisions at all.
It is decided calmly
Burial or cremation, a church or the chapel here, the music, whether there is a viewing. All of it is easier to think about on an ordinary afternoon than in a room where everyone has been awake since three.
The cost is settled in advance
Pre-paying fixes what your family will be asked for. Kevin Lesko is a licensed pre-need counsellor and will go through what is and is not covered, in writing, before anything is signed.
So this is what actually gets written down.
A pre-arrangement is a record of your wishes held on file here, not a form you fill in and never see again. You keep a copy, and so should whoever will be making the calls.

- Burial or cremation, and which cemetery if you have one in mind
- Whether there is a visitation, and whether the casket is open
- The church, synagogue or place of worship, or our chapel
- Music, readings, and who you would like to speak
- Veteran service honours, if you served
- The details for the obituary, in your own words rather than someone else's guess
Cremation is worth knowing one thing about in advance: it is an alternative to burial, not to a funeral. You can have exactly the service you would otherwise have had, before or after it.
And when you are ready, it is one phone call and one sitting.
Ring us, or come to 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center and ask at the door. There is no charge for the conversation and no obligation at the end of it.
